Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Romiti Group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas, has a postdoctoral position available in the area of catalytic methods development and complex biologically active molecule synthesis. We are seeking a highly motivated and independent scientist with a strong background in organic synthesis and is excited about organic chemistry, synthesis and catalysis, to join our research team.

Complex molecule synthesis experience is required. The postdoc will develop high-impact and practical catalytic transformations, and creative, novel synthesis strategies for the concise and efficient preparation of bioactive complex natural products and analogs thereof. The postdoc will also serve as a mentor to junior graduate students. The candidate should have completed a Ph.D. within the last three years or soon to be completed in chemistry or a related discipline.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Ph.D in a related field. Candidates who have successfully completed all requirements for the Ph.D. but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may be eligible to begin employment provided they submit an official letter from the Registrar or Graduate School of the degree-granting institution certifying that all doctoral requirements have been satisfied and specifying the expected date of conferral.

Appointment and continued employment are contingent upon formal conferral of the Ph.D.

- To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and direct a wide variety of experiments. Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data. Conduct experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods and procedures. Develop research protocols and supervise graduate or undergraduate researchers. Prepare written reports and contribute to the writing of research articles.
