Transformer Installation – Field Service Manager
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Field Service Manager to lead and scale our transformer installation and field service organization for high-voltage power transformers (typically 230kV and above). This is a senior leadership role responsible for building and leading a high-performing field service team, driving installation execution excellence, ensuring safety and quality standards, and establishing long-term service capabilities across projects. The Field Service Manager will oversee multiple field activities and supervise Field Service Supervisors, who will report directly into this position.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and build the transformer installation and field service organization, including recruiting, onboarding, developing, and scaling field teams.
- Develop organizational structure and establish a field execution team consisting of Supervisors, Technicians, and future service personnel.
- Directly manage Field Service Supervisors and ensure alignment of team objectives, safety performance, and project execution standards.
- Develop and implement SOPs, installation processes, work instructions, quality standards, and best practices.
- Do hands‑on installation work for power transformers (230kV+) at the beginning , including mechanical assembly, accessories installation, oil processing, and commissioning support.
- Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within scope, and in compliance with customer requirements ; establish escalation mechanism and solve technical and operational issues in time.
- Drive workforce capability development through technical training and mentor-ship programs from scratch.
- Establish KPI systems for productivity, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Do project inspections, punch list closure, and final handover activities.
- Provide leadership during critical customer situations and support business growth initiatives.
- Degree, diploma, technical certification, or equivalent field experience in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- 10–15+ years of experience in transformer installation, field service and commissioning work.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing field teams or service organizations.
- Deep knowledge of transformer basic theory, transformer structure, accessories (including OLTC) and commissioning activities; strong hands‑on experience in 230kV and above transformer assembly, oil handling, vacuum processes, SAT and functional test.
- Experience in investigating technical and quality issues. Trouble‑shooting ability based on electrical diagnosis and DGA analysis is required.
- Experience in building teams and establishing operational processes from an early‑stage or growth environment is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, HSE practices, and field safety management. OSHA
10/30 is required. - Ability to read technical drawings, electrical schematics, and installation documentation.
- Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
- Familiarity with utility customer standards and site working procedures.
Good communication and reporting skills.
