Staff Software Engineer

Staff Software Engineer is responsible for the techno‑functional impact analysis, design, and code construction activities associated with development of software releases for the CVS Retail Pharmacy systems. The role requires strong technical, functional, and interpersonal skills and covers the entire product development life cycle, delivering efficient solutions and mitigating risks before deployment to production.

• 7+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications
• 5+ years of experience as a full stack developer in Java‑based technologies, including microservices and Spring Boot/REST
• 5+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, GCP, or other public cloud services, and knowledge of open‑source packages from Apache, Google, and Spring
• 2+ years of experience in React JS, Node.js, or other front‑end frameworks; ability to develop effective engineering practices with responsive UI design
• 5+ years of experience with databases (SQL, No

• 3+ years of experience with Agile development practices

• Experience in Retail Pharmacy or Healthcare domain
• Knowledge of Graph
  
  QL/gRPC
• Expert knowledge of software engineering best practices with experience building complex products
• Extensive experience building and adopting software engineering best practices
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures
• Experience as a Full Stack Developer on mission‑critical, highly scalable applications with large user/infrastructure footprint
• Strong background in project management methodologies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate a team
• Strong work ethic, self‑starter, and ability to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
• Knowledge of industry‑wide technology trends and best practices for large, collaborative teams

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

The typical pay range for this role is $ – $. This range represents the base hourly rate or base annual salary for all positions in the grade for which this role falls. The final offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors. The position is eligible for bonuses, commissions, short‑term incentive programs, and an equity award program.
