** Boeing Defense, Space & Security** (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level Software Engineer - Developer to join the Special Projects Dallas (SPD) P‑8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) team in Richardson, TX
.
At Boeing, our software engineers design next‑generation software capabilities for advanced aerospace platforms. The SPD AAS team builds and maintains the mission systems software that runs on the P‑8A to support mission planning, sensor integration, operator display, and mission replay. The team also develops training simulations for P‑8 fleet operators. This role will execute the full software development life cycle, including design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance support for P‑8A AAS mission systems.
The candidate must work independently in a fast‑paced environment, collaborating closely with hardware, software, systems engineering teams, and customers. The position also supports training devices in Richardson and retrofits devices at customer sites.
Position Responsibilities- Partner with hardware, software, and systems engineering to design, develop, troubleshoot, and test P‑8A AAS mission and training systems software.
- Assist with developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems.
- Develop and maintain code and integrate software components into a fully functional system.
- Help develop test procedures and document test results to ensure requirements are met.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). A clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in software development.
- Experience using Java.
- Bachelor of Science in an accredited engineering, science, or computer science program with 0+ years of relevant work experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of directly related experience, OR 8+ years of related experience.
- Active U.S. Top Secret Clearance.
- Experience developing C/C++ and/or Linux operating systems.
- Experience developing OpenGL.
- Experience with Agile/Dev Ops methodologies.
- Experience with real‑time algorithm implementation.
- Experience developing architectures, requirements, interfaces, and designs for software systems.

Code Vue Coding ChallengeCandidacy requires completion of a technical assessment. Failure to complete the assessment will disqualify the applicant.
Pay & BenefitsCompetitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Total rewards include health, dental, vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time off. Specific availability depends on location, hire date, and collective bargaining agreements.
Pay Range: USD $83,300 – $112,700 (based on experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations).
