Job DescriptionAs a Lead Software Engineer (Embedded), you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of software on the embedded targeted hardware. You will design software per requirements documents and system‑level design documents, focus on interfacing with test engineers to influence test automation, and work within the Agile Development Group (ADG) division, which specializes in next‑generation technologies for Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar, weapon systems, and RF sensor technologies.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead software engineering development, providing guidance and direction to successful software engineers.
- Utilize Agile methodologies to lead meetings, track issues, report status, and synchronize development schedules.
- Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles to the development of software for the targeted embedded hardware.
- Advance skills in C++, implementing software for embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering members to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware, firmware and software, and design overall system performance requirements.
- Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions independently or with a multidisciplinary team.
- Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle: requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware‑software integration, and formal test.
- Develop software test plans and procedures, and produce other relevant technical documentation.
- Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, prototype, and evaluate results.
- Participate in peer reviews, identify, track, and repair defects.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 9 years of prior engineering experience; or Graduate Degree with 7 years of prior engineering experience; or, if no degree, a minimum of 13 years of related engineering experience.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in computer/software engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of C++ development in a professional environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of leading software development teams.
- Experience developing and testing real‑time embedded software.
- Familiarity with Greenhills RTOS.
- Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs) for real‑time embedded systems.
- Experience with modern C++ techniques.
- Experience as an Agile Scrum Master and/or Product Owner.
- Working knowledge of Linux.
