JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision, program, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate swim classes at multiple City pool locations. Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate instructors at multiple locations. Assemble, distribute, process, and submit to management the participant paperwork necessary for swim school level completion certificate. Assist management in hiring and placement of instructors at multiple pool sites to accommodate all scheduled summer classes to be held. Evaluate swim school programming at completion of summer.
Perform other related duties as required.
- Evaluate previous years’ class participation.
- Set up, oversee, and maintain each pool site’s lesson plans, paperwork, and equipment throughout the course of the summer.
- Supervise the lead instructor at each pool site.
- Maintain health/safety standards during all classes.
- Instruct any level of swim class offering in the event of staff shortages.
- Keep accurate written documentation of class reports and attendance.
- Work in extreme heat and varying weather conditions.
- Carry, push, pull, drag and/or hold up to 30 pounds of equipment.
- Stand in water for long periods of time.
- Cope effectively with crowds and high noise levels.
- Communicate courteously and effectively with other City employees, officials, pool patrons and students, and the public.
- Make effective decisions quickly.
- Attend staff meetings and submit reports as required.
- Effectively use program registration software.
- Texas Driver’s License, Class C, is required.
- Water Safety Instructor Certificate (WSI) is preferred.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is preferred.
- Lifeguard Training Instructor Certification (LGI) is preferred.
- Must be able to swim and have experience in direct swim instruction.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must have ability to maintain good public relations.
- Must have skills to effectively administer guidelines, manage the program, and present effective written and/or oral reports on evaluation of courses.
