Job Summary
The Development Manager leads MICC's annual fundraising program to achieve contributed revenue goals and strengthen donor relationships. Responsibilities include annual giving, donor acquisition and retention, stewardship, corporate and foundation fundraising, sponsor ships, fundraising communications, and development operations. In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), the Development Manager translates fundraising priorities into measurable strategies and campaigns, supervises the Development Database Coordinator (DDC), and collaborates across Advancement to expand MICC's community of supporters and increase contributed revenue.
ScheduleThis position is regularly scheduled to work Monday-Friday during standard business hours. Periodic evening and weekend work is required for recruitment activities, events, and organizational initiatives.
Fundraising Strategy and Annual Giving- Develop and execute MICC's annual development plan in partnership with the CAO, establishing revenue goals, strategies, timelines, and performance measures
- Manage a comprehensive fundraising program including individual giving, corporate and foundation support, sponsor ships, direct response, digital giving, and donor engagement
- Develop strategies to increase donor acquisition, retention, renewal, and upgrades
- Maintain an annual development calendar coordinating appeals, grants, sponsor ships, stewardship, communications, events, and solicitations
- Monitor fundraising performance and adjust strategies to revenue goals
- Maintain and actively manage a portfolio of annual donors and prospects
- Lead MICC's annual corporate and foundation fundraising strategy, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and revenue forecasting
- Manage the annual grant calendar and ensure timely submission of proposals, reports, and supporting materials
- Coordinate grant opportunities and reporting with departments and leadership
- Develop corporate engagement strategies incorporating sponsorship, philanthropy, volunteer engagement, and organizational partnerships
- Own fundraising strategy and revenue goals for donor-facing events, including the Gala
- Develop event strategies for sponsor ships, donor cultivation, solicitation, appeals, follow-up, and stewardship
- Partner with the Event and Volunteer Coordinator, who leads event planning, logistics, guest experience, volunteers, vendors, and event platforms
- Evaluate event fundraising performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue, engagement, and return on investment
- Lead fundraising messaging, audience strategy, goals, and calls to action while partnering with Marketing and Communications on brand, design, and distribution
- Supervise the DDC and ensure accurate gift processing, acknowledgements, donor records, pledges, prospect information, and reporting
- Maintain effective use of Raiser's Edge NXT for moves management, segmentation, forecasting, and reporting
- Establish and monitor fundraising dashboards and key performance indicators
- Ensure appropriate fundraising procedures, data integrity, security, documentation, and compliance
- Manage, coach, and develop the DDC, establishing clear goals and expectations
- Partner with the CAO on donor strategy, campaign activity, and fundraising priorities
- Collaborate with the Director of Admissions and Marketing, Marketing and Communications Manager, and Event and Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate Advancement campaigns, communications, events, and engagement
- Contribute to a unified Advancement culture built around shared goals, relationships, accountability, and collaboration
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in management, marketing, business, or a related field preferred
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, development, sales, relationship management, or a related field
- Demonstrated success managing annual fundraising programs and achieving goals
- Experience with individual giving, donor stewardship, corporate and foundation giving, sponsor ships, and fundraising campaigns
- Experience managing fundraising projects, budgets, calendars, and deadlines
- Experience with Raiser's Edge NXT or a comparable fundraising CRM strongly preferred
- Experience in a mission-driven nonprofit organization preferred
- Strong understanding of nonprofit fundraising and donor relationship management
- Excellent relationship-building, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to translate fundraising strategy into actionable plans and measurable results
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and fundraising/database technology
