National Interstate is looking for a Senior Application EngineerThis individual will either work hybrid from the Richfield, OH office 2 days per week or work fully remote from the USA, if not local to the office.
Employees in this role are expected to be on‑site a minimum of two days a week, with the potential to work three days remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday and Wednesday but will be determined by business needs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities- Design, program, build, and deploy software applications and systems that support various business and insurance processes.
- Drive the implementation of new features and functionalities based on business requirements, enhancing the overall user experience and ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Support software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors and responding to scope changes.
- Develop technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and implement integration solutions that enhance data flow and system interoperability.
- Monitor and optimize application performance, identifying and resolving any issues that may impact system efficiency.
- Provide technical support to end‑users, addressing and resolving application‑related issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures and best practices.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements, providing regular updates on project status and progress.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions that enhance overall system performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
ExperienceGenerally, a minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering and/or application engineering. Preferred experience with .NET/C#, SQL, Full Stack Development, Test automation.
Scope of Job/QualificationsDemonstrates advanced proficiency in multiple programming languages. Advanced experience with cloud platforms and modern development frameworks. Extensive experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Develops time estimates and other project management elements for complex project deliverables. Provides technical expertise across a range of applications, systems and/or technologies. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software issues. Demonstrates strong understanding of machine learning concepts and their software engineering implications.
Requires a high level of understanding of the organization’s business and technology operations.
