Civil Science is seeking Construction Inspectors (Levels I–IV) to support transportation and infrastructure projects. We are seeking to fill two Construction Inspector positions, with one role based in Lehi or Salt Lake City and the other based in Richfield or St. George.
In this vital role, you’ll be out in the field inspecting roads, bridges, drainage structures, utilities, trails, and other critical public infrastructure that communities rely on every day. If you prefer being on active job sites—watching projects take shape and ensuring they’re built correctly—you’ll thrive here.
You’ll work closely with contractors, municipalities, UDOT representatives, project managers, and engineers to identify potential issues early and address them before they escal. This is a monitoring and oversight role focused on observing construction activities, documenting findings, and reporting compliance with approved plans, specifications, and safety standards.

Inspector I (Entry-Level)
- 0–2+ years of construction, inspection, trade or related field experience; candidates that are interested yet new to the industry are encouraged to apply!
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and safety practices preferred
- Strong people and communication skills
- Competent in PDF, Microsoft, and email software platforms
- Ability and willingness to actively progress through the UDOT Technician Level 1 training program
Inspector II–III (Intermediate)
- 3–7+ years of professional construction experience including field inspections and leadership responsibilities – material testing experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to work independently on a construction project
- Strong people and communication skills
- Knowledge of construction methods and practices
- Ability to read construction plansets, project schedules, and understand project specifications (UDOT and/or APWA)
- UDOT Technician Level II required;
Level III preferred - Ability to use software such as Masterworks, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other required programs
- Ability to guide the work of other inspectors is preferred
- 8–12+ years of professional construction experience including leadership responsibilities
- Ability to train and mentor staff to provide supervision as needed
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (UDOT and/or APWA) and identify discrepancies or conflicts with plans and/or field conditions
- Independently run construction project with little to no oversite
- Advanced expertise in quality control processes and safety compliance – material testing experience is a plus, but not required
- Excellent people and communication skills
- Demonstrated success managing field teams and complex projects, including overseeing multiple staff across multiple projects, including mentoring of junior technicians
- Strong commitment to quality, accountability, and meeting deadlines
- Commitment to prioritizing safety and strictly adhering to all company, client, and site‑specific safety policies and procedures at all times
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrates a continuous learning mindset and a desire to grow within a company that actively invests in its people
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to job sites and work remotely as needed, including occasional overnight stays. May include night and weekend work to meet project needs
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work on active construction sites, including uneven terrain, varying weather conditions, and moderate to high noise levels
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Testing experience is not required but is a plus
