Snow College, a student-focused, rural residential community college in central Utah, invites qualified candidates with a passion for undergraduate teaching, to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position as an Instructor/Assistant Professor of Political Science. The position starts in Fall Semester 2026 (August). The position will be expected to primarily provide instruction courses in introductory American National Government and other lower division political science courses (comparative, law and courts, etc.),

and potentially introductory American history. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in instruction, institutional service, and student success.

* Master's degree in political science or a related field required.

* PhD in political science earned by time of employment is preferred.

* American government emphasis preferred.

* Knowledge areas in comparative politics, international relations, law and courts, American history, and economics considered.

* Ability, experience, and qualification to teach engaging 1st and 2nd year college courses in political science and social science courses.

* Ability and experience in engaged learning pedagogies/high impact practices.

* Skilled and proficient in diverse instructional methods (face to face, asynchronous online, interactive video conference).

* Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in oral and written English.

* Highly developed interpersonal skills: ability to be collegial and collaborative with faculty/staff/administration, and respectful and encouraging of students of all backgrounds.

* Teach primarily introductory courses in American National Government and courses in other lower-division political science or social science courses.

* Teach a minimum of 5 classes (15 credits) per semester (Fall & Spring), through a variety of delivery modes, including traditional face-to-face, asynchronous online, and interactive Video Conference (IVC) to remote sites.

* Participate in institutional committees and service to Snow College and the community at large.

* Develop collaborative relationships with colleagues at Snow College, transfer institutions, and industry partners.

* Regularly develop and evaluate teaching and learning curriculum and incorporate pedagogies and practices that lead to student success.

* Mentor majors and potential majors; maintain office hours available to students.

* Be actively engaged in program recruitment and retention efforts, facilitating the growth of the Social Science program at Snow College.

This is a full-time tenure-track position with a professional commitment of 40+ hours per week and a 9-month schedule through Fall and Spring semesters (mid Aug-mid May).

* Salary: $52,735-$55,511. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

* Additional Compensation: possibility for overload pay for courses taught beyond the base teaching load.

* Opportunities for rank advancement and associated salary increases are available based on performance and qualifications.

* Annual institutional salary and benefit increases based on state legislative funding.
