Job DescriptionThe job of Instructional Assistant – Computer Lab was established for the purpose of maintaining the operation of the overall computer lab; providing recommendations regarding potential software application purchases; complementing classroom instruction with software applications and computer technology; providing written support and/or conveying information regarding instructional materials.
This job reports to Principal.
Essential Functions- Assists students and teachers for the purpose of complementing classroom instruction with a variety of software applications and the use of computer technology.
- Attends workshops and seminars to stay abreast of computer and software updates; coordinates student testing (e.g., sets up labs, troubleshoots software, monitors students) to ensure procedures and guidelines are followed.
- Coordinates students, teachers, and technical support personnel to maintain computer lab operations.
- Installs computer software applications to provide instructional materials for student and teacher use.
- Monitors students (e.g., internet usage, computer lab behavior) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Prepares documentation (e.g., daily usage reports, requisitions, instructions, memos) to document activities and provide written reference.
- Researches software applications to recommend potential applications appropriate for student level.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software applications and problems while maintaining applications (e.g., runs updates, replaces printer cartridges, reviews functions) to determine appropriate actions and ensure availability for student and teacher use.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
