Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Richland, Mississippi — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.

Benefits

  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

    Tuesday – Saturday

    Second Shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or Technical Certification, Post-Secondary degree, or Technical Certifications (preferred)
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
    • Routine preventative maintenance, e.g., oil changes, brake and tire work
    • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
  • All other certification required by location (required)
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A (preferred)
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment
  • Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within six months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder Road Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions may require additional screening including employment and education verification, motor vehicle record checks, road test, and/or other background checks as required by the customer.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
    • Standard vehicle maintenance
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
    • Completing complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
    • Replacing defective components as instructed
    • Working unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal / provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
  • SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
    220)
  • Complete two of the OEM On-Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days
