Diesel Technician

Position Overview

Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Richland, Mississippi. The position offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about.

• Hourly Pay: $29.86 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
• Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Tuesday – Saturday, second shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification, postsecondary degree or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and basic diagnostics (AC and electrical systems)
• Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
• All other certifications required by location required
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Minimum 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
• Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers and drivers to determine nature of complaints once a task is assigned
• Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Provide other support duties as required to support operations, such as Service Island support
• Be SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
