Position Overview
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Richland, Mississippi. The position offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about.
Compensation- Hourly Pay: $29.86 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Tuesday – Saturday, second shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm
- Medical, dental, vision after 30 days
- 80 hours PTO first year, starting Day 1

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification, postsecondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and basic diagnostics (AC and electrical systems)
- Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
- All other certifications required by location required
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers and drivers to determine nature of complaints once a task is assigned
- Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Provide other support duties as required to support operations, such as Service Island support
- Be SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
