Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
Job SummaryPerforms a variety of accounting tasks applying technical accounting and financial practices and concepts beyond the mere adherence to detailed procedures and instructions. Tasks provide direct exposure to accounting, financial or tax problems and requirements, and provide familiarization with corporate systems and procedures. Occasionally, assignments call for use of judgment and resourcefulness to resolve problems where solutions are not obvious.
Telework Designation:

This position is a full-time role that offers full-time or part-time telework in accordance with current business requirements and works a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. This position requires periodic travel to the Richland, Washington project office. Relocation is available; if relocation is selected, the candidate will be designated as part-time telework and be required to work a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Major Responsibilities- Employee will perform a variety of accounting functions and processing of transactions by applying basic principles and fundamental business theories.
- Support coordination of standard and complex client invoices.
- Prepares, reviews, and analyzes billing transactions.
- Examines a variety of recording and reporting documents and summaries to verify accuracy and conformance with specific functional, corporate, contract, government, or professional accounting requirements.
- Reconciles reports and financial data with other records on file. Identifies inconsistencies, deviations from policies, and errors; performs appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepares or reviews moderately complex summary reports, financial statements, etc.
- Prepares and maintains desktop instructions and assists with overall procedures and work process reviews.
- Works extensively with Oak Ridge Billing group.
All requirements are subject to possible change. Expected internal/external relationships with the project supervision, client accounting, audit personnel and Oak Ridge Personnel.
Education and Experience RequirementsLevel I:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 1-2 years of relevant experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Level II:
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
- Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
