Job Responsibilities/Duties

Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

H2C is seeking an Accountant and Financial Analyst to support the Finance organization. This position will support H2C Employee Travel and will be responsible for compiling, analyzing and processing financial information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, applicable laws, regulations, contract terms and company procedures.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Review and approve employee travel authorizations (audit for allowability).
  • Work with Employee and Contracted Travel Agency on employee travel.
  • Work with EM Conference Tool to review all conferences that are allowable.
  • Balance the Travel Credit Card statement to approved travel and prepare for payment.
  • Obtain data to create travel budget each fiscal year.
  • Track travel by location and organization and compare to budget.
  • Review and audit completed expense reports for accuracy. Initiate/recommend corrections as needed.
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts to ensure accurate and appropriate recording and perform analysis of expenses to ensure compliance with accepted policies and procedures. Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Prepare journal entries in the BMS accounting system as needed.
  • Research and resolve problems, questions or issues as requested
  • Compile, analyze, maintain and distribute financial information related to travel and employee reimbursements
  • Pull and provide backup for Other Hanford Contractor and Department of Energy Invoices
  • Perform bank reconciliation(s)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications Grade 16:

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline; and

Three (3) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Grade 17:

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline; and

Five (5) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Grade 18:

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline; and

Seven (7) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Desired Qualifications
  • Masters's Degree (MA/MS/MBA) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline
  • Experience with large financial systems
  • Knowledge of the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR)
  • Knowledge of GAAP, CAS, and standard accounting procedures/tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel and Access
Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors.
