Post Doctorate Research Associate – Quantum Computing

Overview

This position is part of the Advanced Computing, Mathematics, and Data Division at PNNL, focusing on quantum computing research and related areas.

• Develop novel methods and state‑of‑the‑art results in target research topics.
• Integrate and utilize good software engineering practice, emphasizing high‑performance compute and quantum compute.
• Deploy solutions on multi‑node compute and state‑of‑the‐art quantum hardware.
• Publish in leading conferences or journals such as ISCA, ASPLOS, MICRO, HPCA, PRX Quantum, etc.
• Communicate research through presentations to diverse audiences.
• Mentor and collaborate with interns at PNNL.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD obtained within the past five (60) months or within the next eight (8) months from an accredited university.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• Strong background in quantum error correction theory, architecture and compilation.
• Quantum resource estimation for fault‑tolerant architectures.
• Benchmarking, verification, and validation of QPUs at algorithm and gate levels.
• Quantum algorithms development for domain and material science.
• ZX calculus for QEC, algorithms, and classical simulation of quantum circuits.

• Minimum salary: USD $69,000 per year.
• Maximum salary: USD $119,100 per year.
