If you answered yes, then look no further than Garrett Electric! Garrett is seeking a full-time Site Safety Representative to work out of our Richland, Washington office.

This position will be responsible for construction safety, health and environmental protection programs, to minimize the potential for accidents, injuries and damage.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following;

  • Evaluating and assessing jobsites in order to identify potential safety hazards, including fall hazards, potential exposure to chemicals and materials, etc.
  • Preparing and reviewing health and safety guidelines to minimize accidents, injuries or other damage.
  • Providing safety related training to company personnel in safety related topics, forklift, confined space, and fall protection to both small and large group settings.
  • Conducting/coordinating on-site safety meetings and onboarding new hires.
  • Monitoring construction sites and ensuring compliance with company procedures as well as government regulations, acts and standards, including monitoring for appropriate PPE, and enforcing the display of required safety signage.
  • Promoting proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions.
  • Consulting building codes, government regulations and other emergency response agencies to ensure that the workplace is compliant with health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Investigating accidents, injuries and near-misses and initiating necessary actions to ensure the situations are not repeated.
  • Documenting trainings, meetings and investigations.
  • Performing other duties as required by the position.
Qualifications
  • Appropriate credentials to legally work in the US, without requiring company sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of relevant OSHA requirements and successful completion or willingness to complete OSHA 30 training.
  • Associates degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in safety and/or risk management such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate of Risk Management (ARM) a plus.
  • Strong organizing, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and understand safety/health policies and principles.
  • Ability to analyze risks and exposures.
  • Willingness to travel between the base office and the project sites; various locations throughout the northwest.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customer representatives and governmental agencies.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite of products.
  • Must demonstrate personal initiative, motivation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to excel with minimum supervision.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range: $80,000 to $95,000 per year, DOE.

Work Environment and Schedule

Work is mainly performed on jobsites, where there may be exposure to noise, chemicals, the elements, uneven surfaces and other hazardous situations. Most jobsites are located in the Pacific Northwest. There will be some work performed in an office setting, in Richland, Washington.

Normal work hours are 7:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, with extended hours as needed for projects and shutdowns.

Physical Demands

Requires the ability to communicate in person, over the phone and via electronic means. Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, see, and hear in order to conduct thorough investigations and avoid hazards.
