SUMMARY
To assist preschool leads or special education teachers in the implementation of instructional programs in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- High School Diploma
- Possess computer skills in Word, Spreadsheets, and Data Entry.
- CDA or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood education or related field preferred.
Other duties may be assigned.
- 1. Under supervision of an assigned teacher and preschool director, assist in managing behavior and procedures that are conducive for learning (classroom, halls, restrooms, recess, lunch, etc.).
- 2. Under supervision of an assigned teacher or lead, assist in planning and directing learning activities.
- 3. Under supervision of an assigned teacher or lead, assist in working with small groups of learners, in order to meet educational needs of students.
- 4. Assist in meeting the physical needs of students (e.g, assisting in meeting the needs of physically challenged students, assisting with toileting or diaper changing, feeding, personal care tasks, etc.).
- 5. Under the supervision of an assigned teacher or lead, assist in the management and organizational requirements of instruction (running off materials, setting up materials for group work, etc.).
- 6. Participate in in-service training programs designed to upgrade knowledge and skills that will assist in meeting the educational, physical, social, or emotional needs of students.
- 7. Have the content skills needed to successfully be able to assist an assigned teacher or lead in meeting the academic needs of students.
- 8. Be able to effectively work with assigned teachers, parents, and students in order to meet the academic, social, physical, and emotional needs of students.
- 9. Ensure children are adequately supervised at all times and proper ratios are maintained.
- 10. And any other duties as deemed necessary by their supervisor.

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general counseling periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts appropriate to the duties assigned. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHERSKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to use appropriate language and accompanying techniques with young children on one-to-one basis as well as in groups.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
