Pipe Stress Engineer is needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client, hybrid in Richland, WA.

In this role, you will use 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop piping designs and support layouts for Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) engineering systems. You will help construct detailed scale models, develop work plans, and review drawings for quality, accuracy, and completion. Your collaboration across disciplines will help ensure PD&P design quality and compliance.

Part-Time Telework:
This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full-time presence in the Richland office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility.

This position follows a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Please note that the telework designation may change in the future at the discretion of the company or project.

• Develops designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts and pipe designs with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed
• Ensures compliance with approved PD&P design standards in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design
• Organizes, reviews, and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion
• Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements
• Answers questions from client or construction group on PD&P design scope
• Provides on-the-job training for personnel within PD&P design
• Able to navigate the 3D model to use as input to pipe stress model
• Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards

• Requires bachelor's degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

• Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check including verification of employment and education
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site
• Non-U.S. citizens from certain countries may be subject to additional security requirements that limit site access
• Prior experience using pipe stress analysis programs including ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE

Pipe Stress Engineer – SENIOR

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review PD&P work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.

Essential duties may include pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code. The stress work involves modeling piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.

• Leads or administers work of PD&P designers and drafters for a business line technology, including preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D CAD design models and construction drawings
• Develops designs for complete and complex PD&P engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum supervision
• Assists in constructing detailed scale models
• Prepares or oversees preparation of material requisitions and bid evaluations
• Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards
• Ensures PD&P designs comply with applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
