ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Nuclear Project Manager II provides end-to-end project management, including planning, scheduling, and control of activities for the development of new nuclear generation. This role establishes project priorities, maintains a broad working knowledge of all aspects of assigned projects, and directs cross-functional teams involving multiple disciplines and organizations while overseeing project management processes and managing cost, schedule, and budget performance.
The position leads project teams composed of internal and external members (typically 10 or more), develops staffing requirements, prepares estimates and funding plans, and manages cost tracking and invoicing in compliance with contractual requirements. This role is considered an expert project management role with a proven record of leading large, complex, multidisciplinary projects and mentoring others.
This full-time position is located in Richland, WA.

- The project manager manages project activities for new nuclear development, providing oversight of the staff involved in engineering, planning, leading, controlling, and monitoring to ensure that work is implemented with quality, on schedule, and within budget. This includes all aspects of project development including budget, work package preparation, procurement, work prioritization, resource loading, risk management, and work execution including resolution of schedule delays and conflicts.
- Develops the budgets, including tracking cost versus budget for assigned projects. Assures proper progress through frequent interface with the client, engineers, related parties, and management. Develop and manage contracts and interface with vendors.
- Develops project schedules commensurate with project complexity and size with the goal of being able to manage risk, accurately track progress, enforce accountability, and manage critical path and float.
- Mentor’s others, including project management staff and junior level project managers.
- Prepare and deliver written and oral communications to various groups including senior management.
- Develop and maintain long range plan strategies associated with assigned projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field from accredited college or university and 14 years of experience in a technical field; OR
- An AA/AS degree and 16 years of experience in a technical field; OR
- A High School Diploma or GED and 18 years of experience in a technical field.
- An advanced degree in a related field of study or business may be accepted in lieu of two years of experience.
- Project Management certification is required.
- Experienced in managing design engineering activities through implementation.
- CGS Management Certification or equivalent training from other Power Plants.
- Extensive work experience in the role of project manager and/or supervisor in power delivery, preferably combined cycle, oil and gas, nuclear environments.
- Managed complex projects and programs that involve multiple stakeholders and sub-contractors.
- Experienced in the planning, preparation and execution of Steering committee and Board of Director presentations.
- Highly proficient in managing Design Engineering activities from conceptual to implementation including managing the supporting Architectural Engineer’s.
- High level knowledge of developing scope and managing scope creep.
- Deep understanding and mitigation of design/equipment obsolescence.
- High level knowledge of procurement strategies regarding long lead material & equipment.
- Experience with creating and reviewing technical specifications on major systems including steam turbines, generators, and transformers.
- Highly skilled in contract management and able to facilitate negotiation of terms and conditions with the support of Corporate Legal team.
- Skilled in software programs such as Passport and MS Office programs
