About the ProjectThis position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).
Essential Functions andJob Responsibilities
- Support the 222-S Complex with electrical engineering, project engineering, and other duties as assigned with minimal supervision.
- Perform a variety of engineering duties including new electrical equipment design and upgrades of existing electrical systems.
- Conduct electrical safety evaluations and determine electrical worker personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Develop and approve work packages and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Conduct field walk-downs, equipment selection, and parts ordering.
- Perform and/or review calculations, testing, design/procedural reviews.
- Assist in planning and execution of field work.
- Perform engineering work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and criteria.
- Demonstrate problem solving and exercise judgment as required on advanced-level work details.
- May direct the activities of technicians and/or other engineers as assigned.
- Incorporate conventional engineering practices into problem solving and program planning where only general objectives are stated.
- Assume technical responsibility for one or more related phases of a project and coordinate various phases of design with other engineers.
- May function as the lead on project or departmental task assignments.
- Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilisation, and training of personnel operating under one's technical guidance.
- Ensure appropriate technical performance of the end product designed and developed to resolve the original problem.
- Use and/or application of codes and standards, engineering principles, to prepare electrical designs and other design engineering documents as assigned.
- Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems.
- Support the team planning process to develop work instruction to safely implement designs within the 222-S Complex.
- Oversee field modifications and acceptance testing and perform field work walk-downs.
- Prepare technical reports, review designs, plans, and shop drawings.
- Perform electrical analysis using Math Cad, AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and other software.
- Apply working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Work Place), and other codes, manuals, and standards.
- Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, financial, and program management disciplines.
- Demonstrate interpolative thinking and creative ability through problem-solving.
- Propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations.
- Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content.
