When folks travel, they expect them to be on-site full week initially. As project and role matures, per client direction, it can be reduced to meet project schedule.
Duration: 3-6 month contract to hire
Pay rate: $58-$65hr W2

Our client is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting industrial manufacturing, production facilities, and complex building environments. This role blends process/making plant experience with commercial HVAC and equipment layout responsibilities, supporting projects from early feasibility through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and startup.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead mechanical engineering scope for production and manufacturing facilities, including process equipment, utilities, and balance of plant systems.
- Support commercial HVAC system design for industrial, manufacturing, and ancillary building spaces, including offices, control rooms, labs, warehouses, and support facilities.
- Develop and review mechanical engineering deliverables across all project phases (feasibility, FEL 1/FEL 2, detailed design, and construction support).
- Design, specify, and integrate manufacturing process equipment and mechanical systems, including piping systems, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, material handling systems, and industrial utilities.
- Develop HVAC system layouts and equipment selections, including air handling units, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, and specialty ventilation based on operational and code requirements.
- Perform mechanical equipment and system layout, ensuring adequate access for operations and maintenance, coordination with other disciplines, and constructability.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses, including HVAC load calculations, hydraulic and pressure drop calculations, ventilation analysis, and equipment sizing.
- Establish mechanical design criteria in coordination with process, architectural, operations, maintenance, safety, and client stakeholders.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including equipment datasheets and specifications, P&IDs, HVAC and piping layouts, Basis of Design documents, technical memoranda, and construction packages.
- Coordinate with process, electrical, instrumentation and controls, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines to deliver integrated, compliant designs.
- Support vendor engagement and procurement, including technical bid evaluations, vendor drawing reviews, and factory acceptance testing, as required.
- Participate in operability, maintainability, reliability, and constructability reviews for both manufacturing systems and building mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, OSHA, IMC, and owner standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
- Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities, including field support and issue resolution.
- Champion safety, quality, and reliability throughout all phases of project delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience in operating manufacturing or production plant environments.
- Proven experience with commercial HVAC systems and mechanical equipment layout.
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
- Experience with brownfield facility modifications in active plants.
- Familiarity with FEL project execution (FEL 1 / FEL 2 / FEL
3). - Experience supporting advanced manufacturing, energy, nuclear, chemical, or high hazard facilities.
- Proficiency with equipment layout and BIM tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Plant 3D.
- Experience supporting construction, commissioning, and startup of industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of AACE estimating classifications or Basis of Estimate development.
- Participation in HAZOP, PHA, or other safety reviews.
