Overview
The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations Division is responsible for plant engineering, plant energy and utility operations, and facility operations for the South campus and leased facilities, North Campus and Infrastructure Operations, the Physical Science facility, and the 300 Area. In addition, the Division oversees campus infrastructure such as fabrication and craft services, duplicating and mail services, relocations, receiving, distributed services, and maintains operations of roads, grounds, and utilities for the campus.
BargainingUnit
- Weekly Pay: $1,719.68
- This is a bargaining unit position and will be under the Battelle/HAMTC Collective Bargaining Agreement. As a condition of employment, unless otherwise exempted, the staff member will be required to join the appropriate union affiliated with the Hanford Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) after 30 days of continuous service and pay union dues or pay agency fees to such union in lieu of joining
The Stationary Operating Engineer operates and maintains building systems equipment, e.g., steam engines, air compressors, air dryers, chillers, condensers, vacuum pumps, generators, motors, water treatment systems, fans and boilers to provide utilities, such as light, heat, ventilation, or power, for building operation; monitors meters and gauges and adjusts controls of equipment to verified operating conditions. Records data, e.g., temperature of equipment, fuel consumption.
Monitors and records system status information for maintenance and/or minor modification requirements. For purposes of job assignments, may perform any Power Operator Journeyman job functions for which the staff member, as determined by management, is qualified.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of related experience
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid state-issued driver's license
- This position requires the physical capabilities to work outside while traversing uneven terrain, to climb ladders, and maintain standing positions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Institute graduate or relevant Associate degree
- TAB (Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing) of air and hydronic systems
- Building Automation System/Direct Digital Controls operation
- Maximo or other Computer Maintenance Management System software
- Building Commissioning/Start-Up process
- Skills in utilizing electronic work request systems/tracking for tablets or Smartphones
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Position will require working around high noise, radiation, chemicals, asbestos, lasers, carcinogens, and other industrial hazards.
- Position requires the use of personal protective equipment during routine work as well as work planned for higher levels of risk.
- This position is subject to rotating shifts (i.e., days, nights, and weekends).
This position involves access to sensitive systems and information. U.S. Citizenship is required. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is subject to the Department of Energy Unclassified Foreign Visits & Assignments Programsite, information, technologies, and equipment access requirements.
