Job Summary
The Senior Pipe Stress Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and reviewing Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, including pipe stress analysis, design documentation, and engineering estimates. This role provides technical leadership, resolves complex piping and stress-related issues, and ensures all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Job Description
- Lead or administer the work of PD&P designers and drafters, including preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, and construction drawings
- Develop designs for complex PD&P engineering systems with minimal supervision, including earthwork, drainage, road design, foundations, and steel detailing
- Assist in the construction of detailed scale models
- Prepare or assist with material requisitions and bid evaluations
- Monitor and review work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to ensure quality, safety, and construction economy
- Ensure PD&P system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
- Participate in constructability reviews
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and review design work within a small PD&P design group on medium-sized projects or assignments supporting global business units
- Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design scope and standards
- Coordinate and interface with PD&P engineers, specialists, designers, and drafters on day-to-day technical activities
- Prepare or oversee PD&P design estimates and work plans aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage performance accordingly
- 5-14 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
- Prior experience using pipe stress analysis software, including ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or international equivalent)
- Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
- Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns-including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries
-are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access. - Prior experience using pipe stress analysis programs including ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE.
