Talascend is currently seeking a Materials Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Richland, Washington
.
The Materials Engineer will provide engineering support and technical guidance to various disciplines involved in high-level waste vitrification design and fabrication processes. They will perform engineering analyses, develop material solutions, and ensure technical adequacy in areas such as coatings, material selection, welding, and metallurgy.
Responsibilities- Serve as the residing material technology expert to the project
- Complete reviews and assigned tasks following procedures, ensuring technical accuracy
- Coordinate with other groups to resolve issues
- Revise material specifications and design deliverables
- Facilitate communication with stakeholders
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and execution
- Complete engineering tasks within budget and schedule
- Support and implement nuclear safety and quality culture in daily activities
- Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with 2 years of experience or doctorate in engineering
- Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Ability to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site
- Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship
- Experience in performing calculations and design related to hydraulics, equipment sizing, and overall system design for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
