Job Overview

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting a Materials Engineering Specialist for a 12‑month contract assignment supporting the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant near Richland, WA. The role offers a W2 hourly base rate of $67.00 per hour with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization/demobilization. U.S. citizenship is required.

• Serve as the resident material technology expert for the WTP project.
• Complete reviews and assigned tasks following procedures while ensuring technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
• Coordinate with other groups to resolve material quality and design issues.
• Revise material specifications and design deliverables as needed.
• Facilitate communication with various stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with other technical disciplines to plan and execute work as an integrated team.
• Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget and schedule constraints.
• Support and implement the nuclear safety quality culture in day‑to‑day work activities.

• Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with at least 2 years of experience, or a Doctorate in Engineering.
• Ability to complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
• Ability to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
• Relevant experience in performing calculations and design, including documentation related to hydraulics, equipment sizing, and overall system design for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
