The Roads and Highways and Bridges and Structures Practices are seeking a Transportation Project Manager to support one or both practice areas as part of our Inland Northwest team in one of the following locations:
Boise, ;
Coeur d'Alene, ;
Pocatello, ;
Spokane, WA;
or Tri-Cities, WA.

In this role, you will lead transportation projects and pursuits, strengthen client relationships, and guide multidisciplinary teams in delivering complex infrastructure projects throughout Idaho and Eastern Washington. You will be responsible for the successful execution of projects—including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and client satisfaction—while contributing to business development and the continued growth of DEA’s Inland Northwest transportation practice.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished transportation professional who combines strong project-management capabilities with sound engineering judgment, effective communication, and a client-focused approach. You will work closely with technical leaders and project teams, develop and maintain trusted client relationships, mentor staff, and help position DEA for future work.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as project manager for roadway, bridge, freeway, highway corridor, interchange, and other transportation planning and design projects.
  • Lead projects from contract development and kickoff through final delivery and construction support.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, work plans, and risk-management strategies.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including earned value, invoicing, accounts receivable, budget forecasting, and profitability.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and subconsultants to deliver integrated, high-quality work products.
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with clients, agency partners, project teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Anticipate project challenges, evaluate alternatives, and lead the team in developing practical and timely solutions.
  • Ensure deliverables meet contractual requirements, applicable design standards, client expectations, and DEA’s quality-management requirements.
  • Lead or support quality-control reviews and confirm that comments are resolved before deliverables are submitted.
  • Negotiate contracts, amendments, and changes in scope in coordination with DEA leadership and contracting personnel.
  • Lead and support business-development activities, including client engagement, capture planning, proposal development, interviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local transportation agencies throughout Idaho and Eastern Washington.
  • Identify upcoming opportunities and help develop pursuit strategies that align with DEA’s regional and firmwide goals.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to project managers, engineers, and technical staff.
