The Congressional Research Service (CRS), Office of the Counselor to the Director, Congressional Services Section is seeking a Congressional Relations Specialist.
This position serves as a Congressional Relations Specialist in the Congressional Services Section (CSS) of the Office of the Counselor to the Director (COU) of the Congressional Research Service (CRS). The selectee follows established guidelines and procedures in assisting Members of Congress and their office and committee staff with requests for analysis, research, and information. Conducts in-depth reference interviews with congressional clients, interpreting their needs and ascertaining sufficient facts and details to determine the nature, purpose, and scope of research, analysis anticipated or required, and to clarify indefinite or obscurely stated requests.
Enters, assigns, and tracks requests in Minerva, CRS’s request management system, by analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing the details to determine the most accurate and effective formulation of the request. Uses a wide range of online and print tools and draws upon the knowledge of the U.S. Congress, congressional office practices, congressional procedure, and a range of public policy issues and current events to assign requests to the correct CRS division.
Follows established policies and procedures to assist in the development and maintenance of effective internal and external client relationships. Assists with outreach activities to congressional clients and with training sessions for CRS staff on the CRS website and other technologies
Availability: Applicants must be a current Congressional Research Service (CRS) employee serving in a permanent or indefinite position at the GS-7 or above
Tour of Duty: Full-time, telework eligible.
