Job Description

The Advocacy Manager/Senior Advocacy Manager will play an important role in directly advocating for federal policies that advance innovative clean energy technology, spur job creation, and support domestic manufacturing to accelerate the transition to a thriving, just, and resilient low‑carbon economy. This position requires direct experience in lobbying or climate/energy policy, the ability to establish and maintain a network of relationships with Republican policymakers, and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working collaboratively with partners from the U.S. government, environmental, business and consumer organizations, industry, and academia. This position will report to the Director of Advocacy.

Major Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a network of Republican relationships with congressional offices and administration officials;
  • Lobby Republican congressional offices and administration officials for policy solutions supported by C2ES and informed by its business council;
  • Support C2ES in efforts to mobilize companies, including C2ES’s Business Environmental Leadership Council (BELC) members, in support of climate and energy policies, including with congressional offices and administration officials;
  • Assist in identifying and executing campaigns that support C2ES’s policy agenda, including but not limited to permitting reform, clean firm technologies, and American innovation and manufacturing;
  • Conceptualize and provide support for the execution of events and briefings for Members of Congress and congressional staff;
  • Proactively engage external stakeholders, including trade associations, industry leaders, and NGOs, to drive collaborative advocacy activities aligned with C2ES’s policy objectives;
  • In coordination with the Director of Advocacy, contribute to the development and execution of the organization’s policy advocacy strategy;
  • Stay current on developments relevant to C2ES’s policy agenda, i.e., by developing a broad understanding of key issue areas necessary to support advocacy efforts, tracking legislative proposals in real time, attending legislative hearings, and following administrative actions including the rule making process;
  • Collaborate with the U.S. Policy team to inform and provide an advocacy‑focused perspective in the development of C2ES policy priorities, publications, and technology‑focused working groups in the BELC;
  • Keep a record of time spent on lobbying activities in a timely and routine basis for LDA and IRS reports;
  • Contribute to a positive organizational culture, including by participating in regular events such as all‑staff meetings and meetings of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Council, and by seeking to model the organization's values.
