Lead ISSE

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading and overseeing the development of secure information systems, while also guiding junior and intermediate-level team members. This role requires expertise in security engineering, architecture, and system management, with a strong ability to resolve technical and non-technical conflicts and integrate security requirements into IT projects.

• Lead and manage the design, development, and implementation of secure information systems, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory security standards.
• Direct and mentor junior and intermediate team members, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles.
• Capture, refine, and integrate security requirements into information systems and IT projects, ensuring all security aspects are addressed throughout the lifecycle.
• Resolve technical and non-technical conflicts within project teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and progress.
• Ensure the development of secure IT systems by applying sound security principles and practices.
• Provide expert advice and direction on Information System Security Engineering (ISSE), including security architecture and system management.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure security requirements are incorporated into all aspects of IT infrastructure and system development.

• BS/BA Degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology from a U.S. accredited college, university, or institution.
• 8 years of experience as an ISSE.
• Strong understanding of applying cloud security concepts in an AWS or Azure environment.
• Experience applying security best practices to Kubernetes, Terraform Infrastructure as Code, and cloud containers.
• Certifications:
  
  Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with specialties in Information System Security Engineering, or Information Systems Security Architecture, and/or Information Security System Management;
  Professional or equivalent Certification(s).
• Experience directing tasks to junior and intermediate level team members.
• Experience resolving technical and non-technical conflicts among task teams.
• Experience capturing, refining and integrating security requirements into information systems or IT projects.
• Understanding of the risk management framework.
• Experience developing secure information systems.
• Has excellent oral, writing, and team skills.

• Able to be cleared for a Public Trust clearance.
• This position requires to be onsite 3 days per week in Washington, DC.
