Role
Title:
Senior Technical Project Manager (Contract)
Location:
Remote (US-based); must primarily work standard Eastern Time business hours
Engagement:
Full-time (contract)
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to lead multiple complex, cross‑functional initiatives across our technology organization. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, security/operations, and business stakeholders—owning project structure, driving delivery, and ensuring alignment from strategy through execution. The ideal candidate is senior‑level (10+ years) and has a proven track record of delivering large‑scale, technically complex projects in environments where priorities shift, dependencies are real, and execution rigor matters.
You should be comfortable operating with autonomy, influencing at all levels, and providing clear, executive‑ready visibility into progress, risks, and tradeoffs. This role is fully remote, but you must be available to work Eastern Time office hours to collaborate with core teams.
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of multiple concurrent technical projects, from intake and scoping through launch, stabilization, and post‑launch outcomes.
- Establish and maintain project operating structures: roadmaps, integrated plans, milestones, critical path, dependencies, resourcing assumptions, and success metrics.
- Drive execution against outcomes—anticipating tradeoffs and actively managing scope, timeline, and risk to deliver measurable results.
- Identify and manage cross‑team and cross‑system dependencies, surfacing constraints early and driving resolution with clear options and recommendations.
- Partner with engineering leaders, architects, product, operations, and business stakeholders to align objectives, sequencing, priorities, and delivery timelines.
- Lead high‑impact forums (steering, technical working sessions, stakeholder reviews): set agendas, drive decisions, document outcomes, and ensure follow‑through.
- Provide crisp, accurate communication tailored to the audience—translating complex technical work into clear, decision‑oriented updates for leadership.
- Implement a lightweight, durable execution rhythm (cadences, reporting, decision logs, RAID) that improves throughput without adding bureaucracy.
- Track progress against milestones, KPIs, and delivery metrics; proactively course‑correct when risks emerge.
- Create repeatable processes and templates that raise the bar for delivery maturity across teams (e.g., intake, planning, launch readiness, lessons learned).
- Work closely with engineering and architecture to understand system design, constraints, sequencing, integration points, and operational impacts.
- Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and tied to business outcomes; drive alignment on acceptance criteria and "definition of done."
- Coordinate cross‑functional readiness: release planning, cutover activities, stakeholder communications, operational handoffs, and vendor coordination when applicable.
- 10+ years in technology delivery, with 7+ years in Technical Project Management (or equivalent role) in a software/technology environment.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex, cross‑functional, multi‑workstream projects (e.g., platform modernization, security/identity initiatives, enterprise integrations, large‑scale rollouts).
- Expert‑level project fundamentals: planning, dependency management, risk/issue management, change control, executive communication, and delivery governance.
- Strong working knowledge of Agile and hybrid delivery approaches; ability to flex the approach to fit the project and teams.
- Deep comfort partnering with engineers—able to engage on architecture and technical tradeoffs without needing to be the implementer—and exceptional written and verbal communication; able to drive alignment, defuse ambiguity, and move decisions forward.
- Proven ability to juggle multiple initiatives and stakeholders while maintaining clarity, structure, and predictable execution.
- Must be able to work core Eastern Time business hours.
