The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a qualified individual for the Insurance Technician 3 (IT3 Non-Perm) position. This role is within the Consumer Protection Division and is based out of our Tumwater Office.

About the Position

If so, the Insurance Technician 3 role may be a great opportunity to put your skills to work protecting consumers and supporting the fair and efficient regulation of Washington’s insurance industry.

As an Insurance Technician 3 in the Producer Licensing Unit, you will play an important role in the Office of the Insurance Commissioner’s mission to protect consumers, the public interest, and our state’s economy. You will review and evaluate insurance license applications, research licensing issues, determine whether applicants meet regulatory requirements, and ensure licensing actions are accurate, timely, and consistent with state laws and regulations.

This position offers a dynamic mix of analysis, research, decision-making, and customer service. You will work with applicants, licensees, insurers, industry representatives, consumers, and other regulatory agencies, providing authoritative guidance on licensing requirements and helping customers understand complex processes. You will also troubleshoot electronic licensing transactions, investigate failed or denied transactions, identify appropriate solutions, and document your work in agency systems.

We’re looking for someone who brings sound judgment, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to customer service. The ideal candidate is curious, organized, adaptable, and comfortable researching information, interpreting regulations, explaining complex requirements clearly, and making fair, well-informed decisions.

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $3,827.00 - $4,980.00.

This is a non-permanent position with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2027 (6-month duration from start date).
