Job Schedule: 4 days x 10 hours

Description
  • Provide project management including planning, scheduling and control of activities for the development of new nuclear generation. Establish priorities within projects and maintain a general knowledge of all aspects of the projects within responsibility scope. Direct the activities of project teams involving multiple disciplines and organizations while monitoring project management processes and managing project cost, schedule and budget. Lead and direct project teams made up of both internal and external members (typically 10+).

    Develop project staffing needs, estimates, and funding plans including management of cost‑tracking and invoicing in compliance with contracts. Considered expert and achieved career excellence in project management (including large scale complex multidisciplinary projects) with excellent ability to mentor and lead others.
Principal Accountabilities
  • The project manager manages project activities for new nuclear development, providing oversight of the staff involved in engineering, planning, leading, controlling, and monitoring to ensure that work is implemented with quality, on schedule, and within budget. This includes all aspects of project development including budget, work package preparation, procurement, work prioritization, resource loading, risk management, and work execution including resolution of schedule delays and conflicts.
  • Develops the budgets, including tracking cost versus budget for assigned projects. Assures proper progress through frequent interface with the client, engineers, related parties, and management. Develop and manage contracts and interface with vendors.
  • Develops project schedules commensurate with project complexity and size with the goal of being able to manage risk, accurately track progress, enforce accountability, and manage critical path and float.
  • Mentors others, including project management staff and junior level project managers.
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral communications to various groups including senior management.
  • Develop and maintain long‑range plan strategies associated with assigned projects.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field from accredited college or university and fourteen years of experience in a technical field; OR
  • An AA/AS degree and sixteen years of experience in a technical field; OR
  • A High School Diploma or GED and eighteen years of experience in a technical field.
  • An advanced degree in a related field of study or business may be accepted in lieu of two years of experience.
  • Project Management certification is required.

Education and Experience
  • Advanced degree in a related field of study or business. Experienced in managing design engineering activities through implementation.
  • EN/CGS Management Certification or equivalent training from other Power Plants.
  • Extensive work experience in the role of project manager and/or supervisor in power delivery, preferably combined cycle, oil and gas, nuclear environments.
Required abilities and skills
  • Manage complex projects and programs that involve multiple stakeholders and sub‑contractors.
  • Experienced in the planning, preparation and execution of Steering committee and Board of Director presentations.
  • Highly proficient in managing Design Engineering activities from conceptual to implementation including managing the supporting Architectural Engineers.
  • High level knowledge of developing scope and managing scope creep.
Desired abilities and skills
  • Deep understanding and mitigation of design/equipment obsolescence. High level knowledge of procurement strategies regarding long‑lead material & equipment. Experience with creating and reviewing technical specifications on major systems including steam turbines, generators, and transformers. Highly skilled in contract management and able to facilitate negotiation of terms and conditions with the support of client’s Corporate Legal team.
  • Skilled in software programs such as Passport and MS Office programs. Diverse Assignment Experience – defined as one in which significantly new job skills or knowledge will be/were acquired and successfully demonstrated.
