Responsibilities
  • Pack hash brown patties into the container.
  • Inspect for visible blemishes, foreign material, misshapen units, and ensure product quality.
  • Make up cases (if Wexxar is down) and place on case conveyor to be filled.
  • Ensure the proper count of product is in each container.
  • Ensure the container has a legible code and is fit for use.
  • Monitor conditions of containers and line operation, providing assistance as needed.
  • Add crude trays to the tray maker when necessary and unplug tray maker when required.
  • Fold stickers and place into container when specifications call for it.
  • Ensure product is trayed and cased correctly and efficiently with minimal waste.
  • Verify shrink wrap, drop bags and overall condition of the pack wrap is in good condition prior to casing.
  • Ensure containers contain appropriate case amount per customer and case specifications.
  • Strip out product to garbage when necessary.
  • Maintain sanitation of the assigned work area and practice good housekeeping (sweep, squeegee, shovel).
  • Inform Supervisor of finished product changes, excessive waste, or unusual conditions.
  • Report personnel problems, safety violations, hazards, or infractions of plant rules to Supervisor.
  • Assist in training new personnel in handpack duties.
  • Assist with general housekeeping, dump to bulk, or clean up when duties permit.
  • Rework damaged or restricted cases and bags of product.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area and exhibit good personal hygiene.
  • Rework potato product as needed.
  • Actively engage in safety programs, perform risk assessments, and demonstrate ownership and leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
Qualifications
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions.
  • Perform trim line duties.
  • Sanitation qualified (training provided if not qualified).
  • Lock‑out/tag‑out qualified (training provided if not qualified).
  • Perform cold inspection duties at any moment.
  • Good work performance and consistency.
  • Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and safety procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Physically able to perform the work.
  • Conscientious and consistent in work habits.
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
  • Work as a team with all other employees in the hand pack area to ensure smooth progress.
  • Working knowledge of how the equipment operates.
Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills
  • Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Apply common sense to carry out simple one‑or two‑step instructions.
  • Use lockouts, safety procedures, and maintain constant awareness of safety.
  • Be knowledgeable of potential hazards and safety procedures associated with tasks.
  • Use tools such as shovels, squeegees, brooms, and scrub brushes.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; talking or hearing. Frequently reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, or smelling. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work

Environment

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, hot, and humid conditions. Noise level is usually very loud.
