ATI is seeking an entry level Transition Operator to join our Richland, Washington facility. Our Richland Operation specializes in melting Titanium and Titanium Alloys to create ingots for aerospace and medical markets. This position works a rotating shift of 12.25 hours daily (overtime paid after 8 hours of each shift) that alternates weekly between days and nights and spans 5:45 am–6:00 pm or 5:45 pm–6:00 am.
The primary duties of a Transition Operator include:
- Run and maintain the Speed weigh and Puck Press system.
- Perform laboratory duties such as retrieving heat samples and preparing them for analysis.
- Conduct furnace turnaround preparation duties.
- Operate industrial machinery and equipment, including industrial mobile equipment (IME) such as forklifts and sweepers.
- Operate overhead cranes to load material into the furnace, pull ingots from the furnace, weigh and sort material, and process ingots for shipping.
- Maintain a high attention to detail, keep records accurate, and utilize basic math and computer skills.
- Follow a strict zero‑injury safety culture and complete required safety observations and trainings.
Additional duties include:
- Sort, mark, and store materials.
- Operate forklifts of various sizes, including rotating masts.
- Operate industrial equipment such as shears, shot blasters, and twin‑cone blenders.
- Basic MIG welding.
- Data entry and inventory tracking in a computerized data system, and complete blend paperwork.
- Sand and wet blasting.
- Operate scales to ensure accurate material weights.
- Use tote dumpers to load material.
- Perform shop cleaning duties such as sweeping, organizing, and cleaning surfaces.
- Hazardous material processing.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 1 year of industrial, manufacturing, or processing work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2‑year or technical/trade school degree.
- Previous welding school and/or experience.
- Experience in the metals industry.
- Experience operating Industrial Mobile Equipment (IME), especially forklifts.
- Machine operation experience.
- Experience operating an industrial furnace.

Hourly pay rate: $22.83 / Hour – $33.58 / Hour
