Job Description Summary

This position will provide relief for the co-product fryer and the mainline fryer.

Responsibilities
  • Provide relief for the co-product fryer and the mainline fryer
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Have a working knowledge of the equipment used for the co-product fryer and mainline fryer
  • Monitor all waste totes in processing and monitor the former
  • Check revolutions per minute on former head; adjust the wizard gauge to maintain pressure; adjust the auger if needed
  • Help with cut changes on the mainline and co-product line
  • Monitor the fryer, set time and temperature, and adjust as needed to maintain specified levels
  • Prepare and maintain co-product and mainline process control data sheets
  • Load and unload oil trucks and move oil from tank to tank
  • Check oil quality and oil levels in the co-product and mainline fryer
  • Pump oil in and out of the fryers
  • Check for product quality at inspection tables
  • Clean and sanitize equipment; perform Sunday clean‑up mainline boil‑outs
  • Willing to train other utility/relief operators
  • Know the location of SAPP, Dextrose, DM, and salt
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures, actively engage in safety programs, perform risk assessments, and demonstrate ownership of personal and team safety
  • Report all near misses, incidents, and any safety concerns
Qualifications
  • Good work performance and ability to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • Read, understand, and obey all plant rules; practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques
  • Knowledge of potential hazards and safety procedures associated with tasks
  • Practice and abide by all company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations
  • Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures
  • Possess working knowledge of how equipment operates
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly
  • Balance teamwork and individual responsibilities; work well under pressure
  • Sanitation qualified
  • Forklift qualified or meet requirements to become forklift certified
Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work

Environment

Exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Frequently exposed to extreme heat. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually very loud.
