Lab Technician 1

Richland, WA
This position is responsible for grading the finished product for all lines and communicating out‑of‑grade situations to the Team Leader. The candidate also performs dispositions of out‑of‑grade product.
Responsibilities- Follow all plant safety policies and procedures, actively participate in safety programs, and perform risk assessments.
- Train backups and new lab technicians.
- Perform daily filing and review of QA data.
- Complete special projects assigned by QA Manager or Supervisor.
- Maintain a neat, clean work area and exhibit good personal hygiene.
- Perform all other duties assigned or requested by QA Manager and/or Supervisor.
- Adhere to good housekeeping practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Wear required PPE.
- Actively participate in AMD activities.
- Perform CCP checks for line one and line two.
- Perform quality grading checks on assigned line, typically two checks per hour as outlined in the training manual.
- Rotate through all lab tech positions.
- Sanitation qualification required; if not qualified, training will be provided.
- Ability to accurately use equipment and tools such as blender, weighing apparatus, pipettes, grinder, fryer, microwave, length grader, thermometer, dicromat, Minolta, Agtron, silver nitrate, and NIR.
- Proficient computer skills for data entry, report generation, and research.
- Basic arithmetic skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and practice safety as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
- Be knowledgeable of potential hazards and safety procedures associated with tasks.
- Actively practice and abide by all company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations.
- Work independently and as a team player, be organized, and plan tasks effectively.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Language SkillsEffectively communicate in English verbally and in writing; understand instructions and follow directions in English.
Work EnvironmentNoise level may exceed 85 dB. Employees will regularly work near moving mechanical parts, be exposed to humid conditions and moderate heat, occasionally work around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration. Employees will work around forklift traffic.
