Transition Operator; Speedweigher

Job Overview

ATI is seeking an entry level Transition Operator to join our Richland, Washington facility. The role involves melting titanium and titanium alloys to produce ingots for aerospace and medical markets. This position works a rotating 12.25 hour shift (overtime paid after 8 hours). Shift times rotate weekly between 5:45 am – 6:00 pm and 5:45 pm – 6:00 am.

Core duties include:

• Operating and maintaining Speed weigh and Puck Press systems
• Lab duties: retrieving heat samples and preparing them for analysis
• Conducting furnace turnaround preparation duties
• Operating industrial machinery and equipment, including IME and overhead cranes for loading material into the furnace, pulling ingots, weighing, sorting, and shipping ingots
• Adhering to a strict zero‑injury safety culture

Additional duties include:

• Sorting, marking, and storing materials
• Operating forklifts of various sizes, including rotating masts
• Using industrial equipment such as shears, shot blasters, and twin‑cone blenders
• Basic MIG welding
• Data entry and inventory tracking with a computerized system; filling out blend paperwork
• Sand and wet blasting
• Operating scales to ensure accurate material weights
• Loading material into the furnace using overhead cranes
• Removing ingots from the furnace using overhead cranes
• Hazardous material processing
• Using tote dumpers to load material
• Shop cleaning duties (sweeping, organizing, surface cleaning, etc.)
• Conducting safety observations and participating in safety training sessions on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• 1 year of industrial, manufacturing, or processing work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 2‑year technical or trade school degree
• Previous welding school or experience
• Experience in the metals industry
• Experience operating Industrial Mobile Equipment (IME), especially forklifts
• Experience operating machine equipment
• Experience operating an industrial furnace

Hourly pay rate: $22.83 / hour – $33.58 / hour.
