Job Title:

Truss Builder / Assembly Technician Job Description

This role involves performing repetitive assembly operations to mass-produce trusses and related products in a fast-paced production environment. You will use hand and power tools, follow measurements and basic blueprints, and move between different workstations as production needs change, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble trusses and related products by placing parts in the specified relationship to each other according to work instructions, drawings, or schematics.
  • Bolt, clip, screw, cement, or otherwise fasten parts together using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Cut products and components to specific measurements as needed, using tape measures and cutting tools to ensure accuracy.
  • Inspect and remove defective products as needed to maintain quality standards on the production line.
  • Tend machines that perform force fitting or fastening operations as part of the assembly line process.
  • Rotate between different workstations as production needs require, adapting to varying models and product types.
  • Work efficiently in an environment where tasks and product models change throughout the production process.
  • Clean equipment, floors, and work areas according to safety procedures to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
  • Follow written and oral instructions carefully and apply common sense understanding to complete detailed but straightforward tasks.
  • Use basic math and measurement skills, including reading a tape measure, to ensure correct dimensions and proper assembly.
  • Communicate effectively with team members in individual and small group settings to support smooth production flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production and operational needs, including potential overtime work.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple written instructions and follow basic work orders.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and complete basic production-related documentation as needed.
  • Verbal communication skills to effectively present information in both individual and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers and basic math operations.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for cutting and assembly tasks.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Comfort using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or construction-related environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand basic assembly, production, and manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when required to meet production demands.
  • Capability to perform continuous standing, walking, lifting, and manual handling tasks as part of daily work.

Skills & Qualifications
  • No formal education or prior experience is required for this role.
  • Prior carpentry experience is helpful and considered an advantage.
  • Experience working with trusses, construction materials, or in a production or assembly environment is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with reading basic blueprints, schematics, or installation drawings is a plus.
  • Comfort working with mechanical equipment and production machinery.
  • Ability to use math skills in practical applications, such as measuring, cutting, and assembling components.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality when inspecting and removing defective products.
  • Reliability and flexibility to move between different workstations and tasks as production needs change.
