Job Duties/Scope Of Work
The Security Representative interfaces with security specialists within the HMIS Safeguards and Security (SAS) organization as well as working in collaboration with security specialists from the Other Hanford Contractors (OHC). Responsible for the overall security of assigned assets on the Hanford site and is a security point‑of‑contact for facility personnel. Works under the general supervision of the Physical Security Manager, and in conjunction with other Hanford Site Security Representatives.
Ensures day‑to‑day security operational needs are met and DOE order compliance is achieved. Participates in an on‑call rotation with other security representatives and possesses a firm working knowledge of protection measures in place at asset locations.
- Protection of Special Nuclear Materials (SNM)
- Security procedure compliance of site personnel
- Daily security operational processes
- Issuing of Hanford Patrol guidance
- Security focal point for HMIS and OHC personnel
- Tracking of corrective actions in SITS or other corrective action tracking software
- Key custodian processes and electronic digital keypad lock administration activities
- Building administration duties
- Security system testing
- Prohibited article processes
- Security incident investigation
- Industrial security asset protection
- Rotational 24/7 on‑call support to Hanford Patrol and Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
- Security system design, upgrades, and oversight
- Integrator for the Protective Force and Plant Operations staff
- Collaborates with PNNL, Other Hanford Contractors, and DOE RL counterparts
- Subject Matter Expert on all Physical Security needs of assigned facilities
- Vulnerability Assessment support activities
- Utilize databases associated with physical security activities daily
- Any additional tasks as assigned by management and/or leadership
- BA/BS degree, plus eight (8) years of related experience, preferably with security operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical, decision making, and writing skills. Ability to analyze problems and communicate resolution clearly through written and verbal communication.
- Ability to perform with little direction and the use of critical thinking skills to maximize job efforts and support the security mission.
- Uncompromised level of integrity and a strong sense of character.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe software.
- Physical condition sufficient to crawl, jump, run, and lift awkward objects overhead to accommodate system testing activities and qualify as a Security System Tester.
- Ability to multi‑task between several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" level security clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.
- BA/BS degree in Security related field
- Previous experience in security, physical security systems, investigation, vulnerability assessment, or emergency management field.
- Desire to take on the challenges and rigor associated with oversight of asset protection.
- High level of problem solving, interpersonal, and resolution skills.
- Strong sense of internal motivation and un‑phased by an ever‑changing work dynamic.
- Possess a DOE "Q" level security clearance.
