Nurse Extern PRN

Clinch Valley Medical Center, a Lifepoint Health facility, is seeking a Nurse Extern to support the Health Support Center team. The role reports to a Registered Nurse and involves direct patient care under RN supervision. This is a PRN position with various shifts, conducted in person, located in Richlands, VA. Hourly compensation ranges from $17.16 to $20.38.

The Nurse Extern works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, collaborating with the patient care team to deliver compassionate care and support self‑care for patients.

• Work collaboratively with the patient care team.
• Perform direct patient care under the direction, delegation, and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Document patient care performed.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the supervising RN.
• Maintain positive professional relationships with patients/families, coworkers, and health care teams.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support.
• Evaluate learning needs of patients/families and provide education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Support a performance improvement philosophy.

• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and respond appropriately.

• Must be a third‑year student or higher in a School of Nursing.

• Basic Life Support Health Care (BLS‑HSP).
