Operating at the intersection of local statutory requirements and global corporate reporting, the team plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of all non-US entities.

This is a highly collaborative, internationally focused environment where Finance partners closely with Legal, Supply Chain, IT, and global business leaders to support operational growth and strategic decision‑making.

One of the team’s most important responsibilities is managing the complex reconciliation between Local Statutory GAAP, VAT Compliance, and US GAAP reporting, ensuring seamless consolidation into Semtech Corporation’s global financial framework.

As Semtech continues to scale globally, the team is also heavily involved in ERP transformation initiatives, SAP optimization, and automation projects designed to modernize and future‑proof our financial infrastructure.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded International VAT & Indirect Tax Manager to join our Finance team in Rapperswil.

This is a high‑impact international VAT role where you will take ownership of complex multi‑jurisdictional VAT compliance activities while acting as a key advisor on cross‑border transactions, indirect tax strategy, and ERP/SAP tax configuration.

You will work across a broad international footprint, partnering closely with Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, and IT teams to ensure VAT compliance remains robust, scalable, and aligned with evolving global business operations.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine technical VAT expertise with strategic business partnership and technology‑driven process improvement within a fast‑paced multinational semiconductor environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multi‑jurisdictional VAT compliance activities across Europe and international regions, including VAT registrations, monthly and quarterly filings, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat reporting, reconciliations, and management of foreign tax audits and disputes. (40%)
  • Own SAP VAT maintenance and optimization activities, including configuration of tax codes, VAT tables, automated tax determination logic, and master data classifications across SAP FI, SD, and MM environments. (30%)
  • Provide strategic VAT advisory support on international and cross‑border transactions, including reverse charge mechanisms, triangulation, imports/exports, fixed establishments, and evolving digital compliance requirements. (20%)
  • Support and lead Finance technology and transformation initiatives, including ERP upgrades (ECC to S/4

    HANA), process automation, and integration of third‑party tax engines such as Vertex. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Law, or a related discipline
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a VAT Analyst, VAT Specialist, VAT Manager, or indirect tax consultant within a multinational organization or Big 4 environment
  • Strong experience managing multi-country VAT compliance activities across EU and international jurisdictions
  • Thorough knowledge of SAP tax configuration and VAT functionality within FI, SD, and/or MM modules
  • Proven expertise in cross-border VAT regulations including reverse charge mechanisms, imports/exports, and fixed establishment considerations
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and reconciling VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, and Intrastat declarations
  • Comfortable partnering cross‑functionally with Finance, Legal, IT/SAP, AP/AR, and Supply Chain teams
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting ERP transformation projects including SAP ECC to S/4

    HANA migrations
  • Exposure to tax automation tools or third‑party tax engines such as Vertex
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate complex international tax environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills within global matrix organizations
  • Experience operating within a multinational publicly traded company environment
