About the Company
Our client is an insurance company. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee finance automation projects while acting as a key liaison with IT. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing account and bank reconciliations, coordinating system closings, processing journal entries, supporting reinsurance reporting, and assisting with regulatory and year‑end audit requirements. The candidate will also conduct audits, strengthen internal controls, support strategic management initiatives, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial and reinsurance systems and reporting processes.
Responsibilities- Oversee finance automation projects and act as liaison with IT.
- Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy.
- Manage account and bank reconciliations, clearing accounts.
- Coordinate timely closure of Underwriting, Reinsurance, and other systems.
- Process journal entries and adjusting entries for balance sheet and income statement reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, commentaries, and supporting documents.
- Prepare monthly overriding and contingency commission entries.
- Set up and update Reinsurance systems, verify test results.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and prepare P&C statements and worksheets.
- Conduct audits, advise findings and recommendations, and prepare working papers for auditors.
- Strengthen internal controls and support strategic management planning and presentation.
- Support year‑end audit functions, including preparing working papers and explaining variances.
- University degree or college diploma in Accounting or a Business‑related discipline.
- Professional designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA).
- Minimum 3‑5 years of experience with month, quarter, and year‑end closing.
- Work experience in P&C insurance industry and familiarity with IFRS
17. - Ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- High level of accuracy with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a rapid‑paced environment.
$80,000 - $90,000/year
