The Business Resilience team ensures that YVR is prepared for emergencies and disruptions by managing emergency plans, business continuity programs, and life safety assets to support operational readiness.

Position Overview

We have a full-time, term (until October 2027) opportunity for the Manager, Business Resilience. Reporting to the Director, Operational Excellence and Improvement, the successful candidate leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the airport’s Emergency Management Plan (EMP), life safety systems, business continuity framework, and documentation management program. This role ensures the organization is prepared to effectively respond to and recover from operational disruptions, emergencies, and evolving risks.

The Manager is accountable for developing and maintaining strategies, policies, and programs that support regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and organizational resilience. Working closely with internal leaders and external partners, the role drives coordinated emergency planning, promotes a culture of safety and preparedness, and ensures critical systems, processes, and documentation are aligned to support safe, efficient, resilient, and reliable airport operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of YVR’s Emergency Management Plan, including training, simulations, and preparedness programs.
  • Drive business continuity and resilience initiatives, ensuring compliance with legislation and strengthening organizational preparedness.
  • Lead the Documentation Management Program, including governance, lifecycle management, and oversight of the document management system.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team, including performance management, coaching, and workforce planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal leaders and external agencies to support coordinated emergency response and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, policy, and safety requirements across emergency planning, life safety, and continuity programs.
Key Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in an operational or safety-critical environment, supported by a bachelor’s degree in emergency management, Public Safety, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in emergency management, business continuity, life safety systems, and document management systems.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex, cross‑functional programs and initiatives in dynamic environments.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency planning, incident response, and disaster management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, influence, and maintain effective relationships with senior leaders and external partners (e.g., emergency services, government agencies, businesses).
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong judgment, risk management, and decision‑making capabilities, particularly in high‑pressure or emergency situations.
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range : $105,680 to $158,520 per annum, based on a 37.5‑hour work week. Eligible for an annual bonus target of 15% of your salary.
