Job Summary

The Food Service Sales Representative is responsible for growing and supporting Salt Spring Coffee’s food service customer base across key markets. This role balances relationship-driven sales, strategic account growth, and hands‑on operational support, while representing Salt Spring Coffee’s values and social mission in every customer interaction.

Working collaboratively with Sales and Marketing, this position focuses on sustainable growth, long‑term partnerships, and consistent execution against business objectives.

Job requirements
  • Grow a network of high‑potential food service customers
  • Maintain, support, and expand assigned Food Service Division accounts
  • Develop and execute sales expansion plans for new and existing customers
  • Act as a company representative, promoting products, brand values, and social initiatives
  • Assess customer needs, resources, and opportunities for growth
  • Provide input into innovation and product development for the Food Service Division
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to develop proposals, reports, campaigns, and presentations
  • Determine account profitability, incorporating equipment placement and inventory requirements
  • Deliver, install, and maintain equipment for food service accounts as needed
  • Field account inquiries and resolve issues in a timely, professional manner

To support clarity and success in this role, the Food Service Sales Representative is expected to:

  • Work scheduled hours as agreed upon, with flexibility to support account and business needs
  • Participate in regular check‑ins with sales leadership to review goals, performance, and priorities
  • Operate within approved pricing and margin guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date account records, opportunities, and follow‑ups
  • Represent Salt Spring Coffee professionally and consistently across all customer interactions
Role Requirements
  • 4+ years of sales experience in a high‑volume food service environment
  • 3+ years of customer service experience within food service or hospitality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in preparing proposals and responding to customer requests
  • Comfort using CRM tools and productivity software (Microsoft Office, Google Sheets)
  • Post‑secondary education in sales, marketing, or business is an asset
  • An understanding of coffee equipment and basic electrical and plumbing
  • Experience in coffee, hospitality, retail, or CPG environments
  • Ability to manage time and territory independently while working toward shared KPIs
