Skilled Laborer

Location: Mitchell Island

Schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (overtime and occasional off‑site work possible)

About the Role

As a Skilled Laborer, you’ll support vessel drydocking, shipyard maintenance, equipment cleaning, and a wide range of general labor tasks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, learning new skills, and being part of a tight‑knit, safety‑focused team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with docking and undocking vessels as part of the drydocking ground crew
• Operate forklifts and work safely in confined spaces
• Perform grinding, bending, reaching, and climbing on vessels
• Maintain equipment through washing, painting, and general upkeep
• Cross‑train in multiple shipyard functions, including welding, grinding, and painting
• Keep work areas, stalls, and equipment clean and organized
• Follow proper tool maintenance, testing, and repair procedures
• Remove rust, scale surfaces, and prepare materials as needed
• Assist with rigging and crane operations to move boats and equipment
• Support general yard operations, including moving stands and totes
• Use a variety of hand and power tools (grinders, drills,

Essential Skills & Experience

• 1–2 years of experience using hand and power tools
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Strong English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding, fitting, or rigging experience
• Confined space entry and monitoring experience
• 1–2 years of counterbalance forklift experience + certification
• Strong safety awareness and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team
• Positive attitude and reliability

Work Environment

You’ll work both indoors and outdoors in a shipyard and boat repair environment. Tasks may involve working at heights up to 25 feet and require bending, climbing, and lifting around vessels. Safety gear such as steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, and goggles is provided. Employees are expected to bring their own basic tools.

This is a Permanent position based out of Richmond, BC.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
