Audio Visual Installer
The Audio Visual (AV) Installer is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and servicing of audio-visual systems for commercial and residential clients.
The role supports both new installations and upgrades of existing systems, ensuring all work meets performance specifications, safety standards, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Assess client locations and provide recommendations for AV upgrades.
- Install, configure, and commission audio-visual systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Perform advanced AV installations, including system calibration, configuration, and basic programming.
- Install and terminate low‑voltage AV cabling using proper wire types to meet performance requirements and building codes.
- Ensure AV equipment, wiring, mounts, brackets, and electronics are installed securely, neatly, and safely.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and verification prior to client handover.
- Provide guidance and instruction to users on operating new AV systems.
- Support service calls, system upgrades, and maintenance of existing AV systems.
- Perform equipment pick‑ups and deliveries related to AV installations and service work.
- Track and document customer service issues and installation activities.
- Maintain a professional presence when interacting with customers, team members, and management.
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards at all times.
- Proven experience as an Audio Visual Installer or in a similar AV/low‑voltage installation role.
- Experience working in the Audio Visual Services (AVS) industry.
- Technical college diploma, certificate, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of audio/video equipment, signal flow, wiring standards, and system setup.
- Basic computer literacy and foundational networking knowledge.
- Experience with commercial AV systems including presentation spaces, conference rooms, digital signage, and audio systems.
- Familiarity with Crestron and/or Extron systems is considered an asset.
- Experience with electrical and low‑voltage system installations.
- Proficient in the safe use of hand tools and power tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and stay current with industry advancements.
- Some positions may require certifications such as AVIXA's Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
