We are currently looking for a full‑time, permanent plumber to join our Facilities Services department to perform plumbing install, upgrading and repair at the journeyperson level across the district's 53 facilities.

Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Installing, upgrading, repairing, and testing plumbing components, equipment, and systems such as sanitary, storm, potable, natural gas, propane, compressed air and sprinkler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Responding to plumbing and piping emergencies throughout the district facilities.
  • Developing manual plans, sketches, and drawings for job layouts, permit applications, and estimating time and materials required to complete the work.
  • Providing technical advice and information to District staff as required.
  • Operating a district vehicle and maintaining the vehicle’s electrical equipment and materials inventory as necessary.
  • Performing other job‑related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required.
Required Qualifications

Grade 12 or equivalent plus a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Apprenticeship in Plumbing or equivalent apprenticeship training and a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.).

  • Two (2) years’ experience at a journeyperson level in commercial or institutional service work, including maintenance, repair, and installation of commercial and industrial equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures, and equipment applicable to the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

This is a unionized position that offers a 40‑hour work week with an hourly wage rate of $40.75, plus a liberal benefit package including Municipal Pension, health, vacation, and sick benefits.
