E & E Angel's Learning Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and safety-minded Early Childhood Bus Driver to safely transport children to and from school, field trips, and other approved activities. The ideal candidate is patient, punctual, and committed to providing a safe and positive transportation experience while ensuring compliance with Ohio Department of Children & Youth (DCY) regulations and all applicable traffic laws.

Position Summary:

The Early Childhood Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. This position works closely with teachers, families, and administration to ensure children arrive safely and on time.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Ability to pass Ohio BCI/FBI background checks.
  • Current medical/physical examination as required.
  • Ability to meet all state and center transportation requirements.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent attendance and reliability.
  • Verifiable professional references.
  • Ability to safely lift children and assist them on and off the vehicle.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience transporting children.
  • Experience working in a licensed childcare or school setting.
  • Knowledge of Ohio Department of Children & Youth (DCY) transportation regulations.
  • Experience conducting vehicle safety inspections.
Essential Responsibilities:

Child Transportation:
  • Safely transport children to and from school, childcare, field trips, and approved activities.
  • Follow assigned transportation routes and schedules.
  • Ensure every child is properly secured using the appropriate child safety restraint.
  • Load and unload children safely while providing assistance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and transportation rosters.
  • Verify that each child is released only to authorized staff or individuals.
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and document daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Perform a complete child check after every trip to ensure no child is left on the vehicle.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary bus or transport vehicle.
  • Immediately report accidents, injuries, mechanical issues, or safety concerns to the Director.
  • Follow emergency evacuation procedures and participate in required safety drills.
  • Obey all traffic laws and operate the vehicle in a safe and defensive manner.
Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Monitor fuel levels and notify administration when maintenance or repairs are needed.
  • Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
  • Report warning lights, unusual noises, or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Maintain required inspection and maintenance records.
Communication:
  • Communicate professionally with parents, school personnel, and coworkers.
  • Notify administration immediately of delays, route changes, or emergencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Arrive on time and maintain dependable attendance.
  • Attend required staff meetings and transportation safety trainings.
  • Maintain all required certifications and documentation.
  • Represent E & E Angel's Learning Academy professionally in the community.
  • Assist with additional childcare duties when transportation responsibilities have been completed, as assigned by the Director.

  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb bus steps, and assist children entering and exiting the vehicle.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused while driving.
  • Ability to perform emergency evacuations when necessary.
