What will you be doing!

  • Managing the delivery of medium-risk decommissioning projects to meet schedule, cost, quality, and safety objectives to the full satisfaction of customers.
  • Leading Decommissioning Field Specialists supporting Operations, including work assignments, performance reviews, and delegation.
  • Planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, through discussions with internal clients to define the scope of the project, deliverables, and timing.
    • May lead three – four (3
      - 4) projects totaling $5M to $10M annually, over a 3–5-year horizon.
  • Assembling a project team including the involvement of project planning coordinators to cost the specific components of the project based on work package breakdown.
  • Leading the development of the Scope of Work and procurement packages required to obtain proposals from the contractor market.
  • Leading the evaluation of proposals, awarding of contracts, and management of awarded contracts.
  • Leading the ongoing delivery of project objectives including setting project-related performance objectives, and regular monitoring of project/contract progress in terms of quality, scope, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Establishing and controlling the project scope and managing the risks.
    • This includes proper management of deliverables within estimated timeframe(s) and notifying management of issues, which could potentially impact the cost and timing of the project.
  • Assisting the Project Manager in establishing and administering project budgets and schedules, and approving changes to the scope of work within project management guidelines.
  • Assisting the Project Manager in reporting on project performance to clients, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education:
    • The Project Leader has a Bachelor (honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing or, membership in an Engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization OR, an alternative qualification is a certificate from the Project Management Institute “Project Management Professional”.
  • Experience:
    • Knowledge gained through experience in the typical phases of a project lifecycle, specifically Project Definition, Concept Development, and Decommissioning, and within each phase, the knowledge and experience in applying the processes for initiation, planning, executing, controlling, and closing are necessary.
    • Experience and resulting knowledge of applying nine (9) project management areas (Scope, Cost, Time, QA, Communications, Human Resources, Risk, Procurement, and Integration) to medium-risk projects.
    • The Project Leader is experienced in the delivery of a project in a regulatory framework.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • General knowledge and awareness of federal licensing requirements, nuclear codes and standards and environmental regulations and standards and their application to the medium-risk projects that they are leading.
    • Developing/leading the execution of Project Plans.
    • Defining the scope of activities, setting priorities, evaluating, and managing risks and monitoring performance.
    • Organizing the work and activities of a moderate number of resources to accomplish project deliverables in accordance with project expectations.
    • Nurturing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with a moderate number of internal and some external contacts.
    • Building and sustaining moderately sized teams; typically, between six (6) and 12 contracted, seconded, or CNL employees.
